What is a death doula?

A death doula is a trained guide who supports individuals at the end of life and those who love them, with the doula’s care grounded in the social, spiritual, biological and ethical aspects of dying— infusing traditional knowledge and evidence based research. Their approach is deeply personal, intentional, and consciously attuned to the dying process. Rather than replacing medical or palliative care, a death doula works alongside, offering compassionate support that helps create a more holistic, individualized, philosophical, spiritual, and reflective end-of-life experience. Death doulas do not offer medical or legal services or advice but may support with referrals and building a community of care.

How I may support

I support those with life-limiting illness and their loved ones by guiding through the dying and grief process. Each persons needs are unique and within your own ecosystem of care, and so some of the ways I may support is through grief tending, holding vigil, death and green death literacy, advance care planning, and collaborating on legacy projects. More information on my training can be found here, and a more extensive summary of services can be found here.

All services are offered through a holistic, trauma informed, queer, and earth-centred lens.
